Nah. Ryouga's corruptible...particularly if he sees Ranma getting

Hmm, Well Ryouga would definately be willing to do just about anything
if he thought it would let him beat Ranma, but he has enough compasion toward
everyone else that he'd probably start fighting the dark friends before he got
round to learning from them.

That was what I meant, really. He isn't going to get anything from the
Dark Friends without being asked for something, well, evil in return.
Ryouga wouldn't play that if it meant endangering innocents. Of course,
he may try ripping them off.....

"Oh great job, _P-chan_! Now all these "Darkfriends" want to kill us
because you went back on your promises to them, and everybody else wants
to kill us because you dealt with them in the first place!"

Ranma has a preexisting understanding of Air from his understanding of
the HiruShutenHa and the new techniques he created using that understanding.

Yes, but like I said, I view that, and pretty all much Ki techniques, as
closest to use of Spirit.

Water would only fit in the sense that his style is strongly defensive and
fluid, though air fits in that too.

Well, air is a fluid according to my physics class, yes. ^_^ I still
think the water connection is strongest, though.

Ryouga's understanding of earth gained from
the Bakusai Tenketsu hasn't demonstrated the same depth but it's there and it's
significant. Akane hasn't actually shown any inate ability toward fire, but she
definately has the personality of fire wielder. I honestly can't see where the

I don't know abpout this "personality of a fire wielder" thing. I think
Nynaeve is the closest match for Akane in personality, and she doesn't
have any affinity for fire. In fact, I think she's mainly good at air
(she uses it the most).

I still think air is good for Akane. Look at the uses to which air
weaves are actually put in the WoT, not the generic impression. Solid
air constructs are used to bind and club people with, somewhat similiar
to Akane's mallet trick. The stuff Akane could actually do with air
seems perfectly appropriate to her.

Contrariwise, Fire seems to be used mainly for heating things, not
necessarily burning or violence. That's why I thought it would be
natural for Ukyou to develop a special rapport with Fire as an aid to
her craft.

life wood idea came from, I'd associate her more with water since she has a
fiarly defensive fighting style.

Ummm, I'm not sure I see this. How does water equal defense? Just ask
any sailor how violent and offensive the sea can be. Arguably, water
is much more destructive than fire.
