Overall, this was quite good. I only had one problem.
Since the action was taking place on a base (not a ship) I don't think they'd
use the word "sickbay".

Actually, if it's on a naval or marine base, that's entirely possible.
They tend to refer to things by naval terms even when on dry land. ("I'll
be in the head." for bathroom, "Clear the deck." meaning get the floor
clean, et cetera..)
