If I may be so bold, why did they not consider tossing the _human_
'Poo into Nyannichuan, or at least keep her alive until the cat switched
over to make sure there were no ill effects (there might have been anyway
but it seems like a sensable precaution).

That's, um, rather a good point actually. Both of Shampoo's bodies were
uncursed, so either could have been a candidate for the re-cursing.

I guess the only real answer is that if they'd done that, there'd have been
no point to the story...

I can see why Ukyo went off on the Guide, but I also understand
his position (they _are_ Merely Beasts).

Well, yes, they are merely beasts. (Of course with human brains, it's
possible that they could learn to become more. Though not likely; from
what I've read about 'feral children' they never progress past an extremely
primitive level.) On the other hand, consider what the Musk Dynasty uses
them for: namely, breeding purposes. The Guide's position is very logical
... but _I'd_ go for the Lethe alternative, every time.

The scene between Ukyou and the Guide, by the way, was one that I dislike
strongly. It was hastily rewritten and IMO just didn't work very well.
I've since revised it and it's a good deal stronger and nastier now.

-- Actually, the whole story needed revision. I sent it off to the FFML a
lot sooner than I should have. I'll probably be posting the revised
edition before too long. Among other things, it actually gives Ukyou a
significant role in the story besides holding the baby.

To be perfectly honest, I was torn between crying and blowing my
stack at the end of this... then I read the epilouge.
	BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, that's sort of the reaction I was aiming for ...

The question is, how are the Saotomes going to react when they
figure out their daughter starts practicing katas neither of them know or
throwing tantrums in Chinese?

It's interesting to wonder, isn't it? It's going to go further than that,
too -- "Maiko" can't walk or talk yet, but I bet she learns to do so with
remarkable ease. Ranma and Ukyou may think they've got an infant prodigy
on their hands. What a let-down... :)

Dammit, I may have to write another sequel yet. I intended "Second Spring"
to be the end, but I've left too many interesting hooks dangling ...

Cheers,
Angus
