Can I say a few things here?

One, I've been having a bit of a rough day, so if I get a little 
nasty, please forgive me.

Two, I think there's a bit of a double standard going on around here.


Let's see... "Ill Met By Starlight" has Ranma totaly OCC in the same 
way as Mamoru/Endymion, yet there are no complaints.  "Bitter End" 
has Akane OOC in an Endymion way and yet there's no complaints.  In 
fact, it's voted one of the best fics of all time.

However, when the same treatment is given to the Sailor Moon series, 
people whine and cry about, "Oh no, it could NEVER happen that way.  
Mamoru waould NEVER do that."

Now, what I want to know is, WHY?

I mean, it's not that it's a bad fic.  Far from it.  Also, how do we 
know that Mamoru wouldn't act that way?  I mean, even after most of 
the Manga and Anime are finished, there's still not a whole lot known 
about him.  For all we know, Takiuchi-sama might have planed for 
something like "Mama's Hand" to happen if she had continued the story 
past issue 200.

(I realise how unlikly that sounds, but you never know...)

Fan fiction lets us explore different avenues like this, where 
characters who we think act one way, will show other sides of 
themselves that we don't see very often.

I, for one, am very pleased with Mamorus characterization in this 
context.  If this were Lurkers "Nibun No Senshi Sailor Moon", God 
Boy's "Shieldsman", or even "I'm Here to Help" then it wouldn't work. 
 However, given what this story is about, it fits like a new suit.
