No it isn't reasonable to assume this.

You're saying it's *unreasonable* to assume it?  I beg to differ. 
 Someone wearing a religious symbol means it's quite likely they adhere 
to that religion.  It's possible they don't, I grant you, but I still 
think it's quite reasonable to assume they do.  More than likely, in 
fact.
