Hello, this is my (as seen above in the subject) first shot at writing a
fanfic. With that in mind, I'd appreciate any responses that will help
me improve the writing, preferably with a low acidic level in tone. I'm
new at this, remember? Once I get better at writing, you could flame me,
for all I care, just not now. Later.

I recommend you read the authors note, as it explains a few things. I''m
not too sure if you'd call them a spoiler, since they're dealing with
stuff that was never planned on being hidden.

This is the prologue and the first chapter. Please, any comments on how
to improve, should I continue the story, and such, please send.

MAKING THINGS BETTER

One BIG X-OVER, Meant to make the endings to many anime easier to
swallow

By Thomas Wu

Author's note: This was a selfish project done by me because the ending
to Gunbuster made me cry. (WUSS!! Slaps myself many times.) This was
originally going to only cover Evangelion and Gunbuster only, but I
remembered the ending to Fatal Fury: The Movie, and decided to do
something about it. After reading about so many "lovely" endings to so
many wonderful Anime, I decided I'd solve
those problems too. Now, this story covers Evangelion, Gunbuster, Fatal
Fury, Teknoman, Ah! My
Goddess, Devil Hunter Yohko (Nothing wrong with AMG's or DHY's ending,
but I thought I'd just do a part where the main character stops by to
pay a visit.) and even though it's not an anime, Final Fantasy 7

Due to the fact that I am not a writer by nature, I have very little
creativity. Hence, the main character is
something of god, except that he had very little responsibility. To
explain for these powers, the main
character is based on the idea that he is this person that lived
somewhere in between worlds. So he would re-incarnate himself on a
planet, without any knowledge of who he really was until he completes
whatever
his mission was. Then he receives full knowledge of who he really is,
and he moves on to another world,
another dimension, and starts the cycle again. However, he finally did
all he wanted to in that fashion,
and so now he's decided to take care of certain outcomes that really
bothered him.

The main character has been: Rudy Roughknight (Wild Arms, made by Sony),
Theo McDohl (My
character's name in Suikoden, made by Konami), a Teknolord (Something
like Lord Darkon in
Teknoman, only smaller, and more powerful), A planeswalker known as
Jedah (Ever play the game,
Magic: The Gathering?), and Aeris Gainsbourogh's(Play Final Fantasy 7,
and then you'll know who Aeris is.) older brother, Janus (pronounced
Janis, NOT Yanus)

If you're wondering how I can make such bold, and ridiculous claims,
like as to how Aeris could have a
brother, well, I just figured, what the hey? It's my story, and I'll be
as powerful as I like. Besides, I try to
explain about the whole brother thing later on. Also, this is my first
fanfic, so I'm still inexperienced.

This piece of writing was done over a elongated period of time, and my
writing style changes, ever so
slightly, in the middle. See if you can catch it!

Brett is a character created by Brett Handy. Any others, I'm not sure
about, or I am, but am too lazy to
find out their names. But to those people who created the characters, my
hat, off to you for doing such a
wonderful job. Certain characters WILL be out of character, and I
apologize.

Lastly, I picked up where other people's stories ended, so I suggest you
read those first before reading this.

Prologue

In a war-ravaged land, sitting on a beach, two children, still
clothed in their "plug suits", known as Asuka Langley Soryu, the Second
Child, and Shinji Ikari, the Third Child were having a meeting.

Shinji, a brown-haired boy, was strangling Asuka. Asuka reached
out and patted his cheek, and Shinji stopped abruptly.

Asuka, a slim, red haired girl, age fourteen, looked at Shinji,
"I'm feel sick." she said quietly.

Off in the distance, a lone figure approached them. "Who are
you?" Shinji asked.

The figure, sporting a green bandanna over his black hair, was
clothed in a red tunic over a white shirt, wore brown slacks, made a
half-bow towards Shinji and Asuka. "My name is Theo Mchdohl. Shinji
Ikari, and Asuka Langley Soryu, I presume?"

"Yes. Um-how is it that you know our names?" Shinji wondered.

"I know a lot of things. How, is of no consequence. I've always
wanted to say that," The last bit was directed toward himself. "Come on,
we've got a great deal to accomplish." Theo said, checking himself.

"Why should we follow you?" Shinji demanded. "How do we know
that we can trust you?"

Theo chuckled. "One question at a time. In response to the first
question, what else are you going to do. For the second question, you
really can't."

"I'll follow you Theo," Asuka said suddenly. "I'm not sure how,
but I think I know you from before."

"Atta girl," Theo grinned. "Come on Shinji, you don't want to
left alone now, do you?"

"Fine," Shinji grumbled. "I'm coming. But I'm bringing the Evas.
I don't know what'll happen if I leave them behind. Other people might
find a way to use them."

"Great, but before we get started, we're going to have to do a
few things first." Theo gestured with his hands. "Asuka, Shinji, stand
over there. Now, don't worry, this won't hurt a bit." He pulled two
identical crystals from a pocket. "These two crystals house both Runes
of the Gate. I'll explain more about them later, but before that..." He
held out the two runes and began chanting. "Runes of the Gate, leave the
crystals you are held in, and bond with the two children before me." The
crystals glowed, and two identical shapes resembling the appearance of
stars appeared in the air, shimmering. The shapes disappeared, and runes
of the same shape appeared on the backs of both Shinji's and Asuka's
right hands.

"What did you do that for?" Shinji wondered, gazing at the rune
on his hand. Rei didn't even look at the rune on her hand, continuing to
stare at Theo.

"The work that needs to be done is going to require a lot of
time," Theo explained. "The runes on your hand prevents you from aging
as fast as you normally do, and eventually, you'll just stop aging."

	"So we're immortal?" Shinji asked.

"Not really. You can still be killed, just not by old age. "

"Now, I want you two to focus your minds on another place, the
year 14232 AD." Theo reached into his pocket again and pulled out a
photograph with the other. "Here's a picture of the place I want you to
focus on." He gave the picture to Shinji and Asuka so they could get a
good look at it. Shinji and Asuka closed their eyes, trying to visualize
the location. "Do you two have a picture of place in your heads?"

"Hai," said Asuka and Shinji both said, keeping their eyes
closed.

"Good. Now Shinji," Theo said. "I want you to hold Asuka's right
hand with your right hand, got it?"

Both Asuka and Shinji's eyes flipped open at the strange order.
"Um....uh..."

"Asuka, would you mind grabbing his hand?" Theo gestured at
Shinji with his head. "He seems a little dumb struck at the moment."

"Sure," Asuka said. She took hold of Shinji's right hand with
hers before he could react, and smiled. Shinji noticed and hesitantly
smiled back.

"Aw, young love." Shinji and Asuka turned to stare at Theo.
"Ouch, if looks could kill*heads up! Here comes the portal"

A rip in the air appeared not twenty feet from them, gradually
getting larger until it was a bright circle two meters in diameter.
"Wow," Shinji and Asuka both said.

"Okay everybody, step lively," Theo strode purposefully towards
the circle. "Hey you two, don't want to get left behind," Shinji and
Asuka ran to catch up with Theo, and they disappeared into the light.

Chapter One

In the year 14232, in an alternate universe, two small escape
pods departed the battered remains of the once-mighty Gunbuster machine,
flying towards Japan, towards the lights which spelled "Welcome Home."
Upon the pods' landing in Okinawa, they were immediately surrounded by
people eager to see the two heroines who had sacrificed so much so that
humanity could continue to live.

A hatch opened up from one of the pods, as the passenger stepped
out. Noriko Takaya looked at her surroundings in surprise.

"Everything looks the same," she said. "I thought things would
be a lot different after twelve thousand years."

"Maybe it's just as well that things didn't advance greatly in
our absence," said Kazumi Ohta, stepping out of her escape pod. "At
least we won't have to adjust to a leap in technology."

"I suppose," Noriko paused. "But where are we going to live
after all these years?"

"I suppose we could check my home," offered Kazumi. "But by now,
someone else probably owns it."

Someone from the crowd spoke up. "It was bought about a year ago
by a couple. I think their names were Jack and Cecilia."

"Great," Noriko muttered. "Where do you suppose we'll stay now?"

"Actually," the same someone in the crowd answered. "You could
talk to Jack and Cecilia. They're a nice couple really, they won't move
out, but they might let you stay with them for a while."

"Well," Kazumi smiled at Noriko. "I guess that might be a place
we could stay at. It's not to far from here, we could walk there. Um,
Noriko?"

	"Yes?"

"Before we leave, you might want to get a change of uniform."
Kazumi looked pointedly at Noriko's torn uniform, which was revealing
Noriko's left breast.

"Oh." Noriko blushed. "I suppose so."

After a change of clothes, Noriko and Kazumi walked towards
Kazumi's old home. Upon arriving at a large house, Kazumi stopped. "This
is it, but*"

	"But what?"

"But the house is many times larger than when I left it. The
original house is in the center, and the rest was something added on
later."

"Well," Noriko started toward the house. "We probably won't find
out by standing here. Why don't we ask the Jack and Cecilia that are
living here right now?"

Kazumi boldly knocked on the door to what was once her house.
The door opened, and standing in the door way was a brown-haired girl,
no more than 18 years of age, wearing what appeared to be a brown dress
of sorts. "Hello," the girl said. "What can I do for you?"

"Hi," Kazumi started briskly. "I'm Kazumi Ohta, and this is
Noriko Takaya. We just came back from a*"

The girl cut Kazumi off. "Oh yes," she said. "You're the two
heroines that triggered the black hole bomb, destroying the alien race
threatening mankind. Come on in." With that the girl bustled Noriko and
Kazumi into the house. "Welcome to my home. My name is Cecilia Lynne
Adlehyde. So, what is it that you want?"

"Well," started Noriko. "We just came back from a long trip and
at the moment, we have no home to go to, so we were wondering if we
could stay here until we can find a place to stay."

"Of course you can stay here," Cecilia said. "I'll just have to
let Jack know first. JACK!" Cecilia yelled.

"Yes, oh princess?" came a voice from above. A blond-haired man
came down the stairs, wearing a coat, and carrying a large sword. "What
is it that thou desires?" Jack asked in mocking tones.

"Jack," Cecilia reprovingly. "You know how I hate being referred
to that way. Oh, this is Kazumi Ohta and Noriko Takaya. They're
wondering if they can stay here."

"Oh," nodded Jack. "So you're the one Rudy told us about. Yeah
sure, let 'em stay as long as they want."

"Thanks so much," Noriko said. "Um, I was wondering, are you two
married?"

"Us? Married?" Jack laughed "No, Cecilia and I are just friends.
I am not getting married to anyone, at least, not yet." His eyes took on
a distant look.

"Oh." Noriko thought for a moment. "Hey, since we're staying
here, where will be staying?"

"You can stay in the east wing of the house," Jack pointed
towards their left. "It should have everything you need from a bathroom
to a fridge."
