Ok, first of all...her name is not Bunny, its Usagi. :P I know Usagi

I believe the author explained this point--``Bunny'' is how it got
translated in his native language. To me, it made more sense than
Serena.

Er... maybe. But you have to remember that the Japanese word "Usagi"
literally -means- "rabbit". (I was able to empirically test this when some
Japanese toddlers who spoke not a word of English came to my house. n.n
Yes, they -did- enjoy the dubbed Sailor Moon episodes (and whacked me when
I had to stop it to rewind the tape! Ow!))

In any case, it most likely (I mean, Usagi isn't a normal Japanese name,
is it?) seems as odd to them to have a person name "Usagi" as it is to us
to have a person named "Bunny". n.n

And it wasn't how it was translated into his native language...
apparently, the non-US dubs were done differently, in which Serena was
called Usagi. :)

In the German dub they call her Bunny, like in most non-US dubs.
(Even when our voice actors occationally use 'Usagi')
