Without any further ado (or delay) here it is, the second
prologue. A lot of this stuff is based on theories I worked on when
planning this story, so if anything sounds BS, don't hesitate to call
me on it.

As usual, any and all C&C is welcome, even MSTings. :-)

              Prologue 2: Setting the Stage
--------------------------------------------------------------

          -Crystal Tokyo, the Neo-Silver Millennium-

"It is time, your Highness." Sailor Pluto said to Neo-Queen
Serenity. "Yes," Serenity said, "I know. Are you sure that you must
do this? There is no other way?" "None," Pluto responded, "This must
be done or Crystal Tokyo will not be formed."

The two of them were in the throne room of Crystal Tokyo's Royal
Palace. Serenity sighed, "I know that, Pluto. I was just thinking of
the Children."

Pluto smirked. "They are hardly children now. But you are
correct. The next few years will be hard for them in the past, but in
order for them to remember their true selves, then I must do this. I'm
sorry if you don't agree with this." Serenity looked at the green
haired Senshi standing in front of the throne. "You and I have had our
differences in the past, especially about a certain...incident...after
my wedding."

At that Pluto actually looked flustered. "But," Serenity
continued, "in matters of time and the future of the human race, I
have always listened to your counsel above all others. You are the
Guardian of Time, and if what you say must be done, then do what you
have to, with my blessings. You have my trust, just as I have had your
trust in the past."

Pluto bowed before the Queen. "Thank you, your Highness."
Pluto turned and walked out of the Throne Room. Serenity waited for a
bit. "Diana?" A silver haired cat walked out from behind a foyer.
"Follow her and report on what she does." The cat transformed to a
young girl with waist length silver hair. "Yes, Queen Serenity." Diana
said, and then departed the Throne Room.

At the Time Gate, Pluto opened a time portal and pushed a
satchel through and stepped through after it.
Before it closed, Diana darted through the portal after Pluto.

-Present Day, Earth Defense Force Space Station Liberty-

Sailor Pluto finished affixing the small crate sized
object to the station's hull, with Diana watching from a nearby support
girder... <There, that's the last one.> she thought. <Now to set the
timer and move on.>

The timer was set to go off on a date in the year 2000. <That
will be a day to remember, but it has to be done.> Pluto teleported
away. After checking a small device for her trail, Diana teleported
after her.

-Moon, under Serenity Base (EDF Lunar Headquarters)-

Pluto looked up from her work to see Diana looking
down at her. "I figured you would show up sooner or later." Diana was
unfazed, "You knew I was here?" "Diana, nothing get's by me. You of
all people should remember that." Pluto responded, then blinked.
"Sorry," she said, "I've had a rough day, and it's going to get worse,
so if you insist on following me, be prepared for some temper
tantrums." Pluto said with a smile.

"It's no problem," Diana said, "Queen Serenity wanted
me to report on your preperations so she would have a
idea of what had happened when...the Event...occurred. So, what are
these?" "These," Pluto said, "are Temporal Displacement
Generators. Designed by the scientist Wasshu Haubiki...yes,
that Wasshu," Pluto said when she saw the suprise on Diana's human
face.

She continued. "What these basically do is project
a time warping field that transports whatever is in the field to the
preset time period. When several generators work in synch, they can
transport anything up to a object the size of, say, Liberty Station.
Now, I have three more places to go before I'm finished. Coming?"
"Yes, Pluto." Diana said. Pluto set the device's timer, then opened a
time portal. Pluto and Diana stepped through, leaving the device
behind.

            -2015, under Tokyo-3-

Pluto finished burying the activiated Generator in the hole
she had dug. Diana watched the nearby building from the shore. "So,
this is where it all happened?" she asked.

"Yes." Pluto responded. <At least now they'll have a maid of
honor for the wedding.> Pluto thought. "Come, we must hurry." The two
of them teleported away...

        -elevator shaft inside NERV Headquarters-

"There, that's the last one." Pluto said. "Why here?" Diana
asked. "Let's just say it's important and leave it at that." Pluto
responded. Diana looked at Pluto. She could tell the Guardian of Time
was hiding something, but for all the fish in Crystal Tokyo, she
couldn't tell what it was.

"Let's go," Pluto said, "we have one more time to visit."
The two of them turned to go, and for a moment, it seemed to Diana that
Pluto hesitate for a brief second before opening the time portal. The
two of them stepped through....

        -Moon Kingdom, 25,000 years ago-

...into a raging battle. A blackness covered the sky, from
which bolts of energy rained down, causing massive destruction across
the land. On the surface, countless things too horrid to describe
swarmed over the land toward a nearby palace. <My God,> Diana thought,
<this...this is the Moon Kingdom!> Pluto looked over at the
transformed Moon Cat. "You okay?" "I guess," Diana said, "it's
just...after hearing the stories from Mom and Dad, I can't believe I'm
standing here, in the Moon Kingdom of old."

They both ducked as a energy bolt hit close to where they
were standing. Diana looked up at the murky blackness which seemed to
blot out the stars. "That is Beryl's Dark Fleet," Pluto said, "the
Dark Kingdom's youma and warriors were transported from the Earth on
those ships. Cloaked and protected by Metallia's power, they took us
by complete surprise. Even now, they orbit the moon, bombarding and
destroying anything that moves."

"Why couldn't the fleets of the other Kingdoms assist
us?" Diana asked. "What about Earth?" "The fleets that the other
Kingdoms sent had arrived too late to do any good, plus they would have
to get through Metallia herself to attack her fleet." As Pluto spoke,
silvery specks appeared in the sky, the ships from the other Solar
Kingdoms sent to engage the Dark Fleet. The ships approached....only
to be destroyed as a blast of dark energy too massive to come from
any of Beryl's warships swept through the Solar Fleet, leaving
only particles behind.

A simlarly massive blast struck the ground where
Pluto and Diana were standing. "Gods!!" Diana said. "What
was that?!?!?" "That," Pluto whispered, "was Metallia. As for Earth's
Fleet, they engaged the Dark Fleet in Earth orbit in a last minute
attack to stop them from getting to the moon. Thanks to Metallia's
help, the Earth Fleet was destroyed or corrupted to serve the Dark
Kingdom. The worse-or best, depending on your point of view-part came
when Beryl and Metallia created a wormhole that sucked Earth Fleet's
space station headquarters into subspace..."

Diana realized the rest. "So that's where Liberty
Station came from." "Yes," Pluto said, "the headquarters of the EDF is
the old headquarters of the Earth Kingdom's Fleet."

"NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!" A scream split the night air near the
palace where the youma were being held back. Suprisingly, the voice
wasn't Serenity. Then, a blast of silvery light brightened the sky
above the Moon. Before the light, the darkness that was Metallia
seemed to dissapate. Whenever one of the Dark Fleet ships touched the
light, they were destroyed. "The Silver Crystal!!" Diana said. "Yes,"
Pluto responded and looked at the place, "it won't be long now."

As they watched, the Dark Kingdom was sealed away from our
universe by the power of the Silver Crystal. All except for one
element. "Uh, Pluto?" "Yes Diana?" "Why is the Dark Fleet still
here?" Pluto sighed. "We were never really able to figure out why.
Maybe most of the Fleet were too far away for the Crystal to have any
effect. Or prehaps it was just dumb luck? In any case, the Dark Fleet
survived the Dark Kingdom's defeat, but they had to retreat because
their sensor s detected Saturn's prescence." Diana looked at
her. "You awakened Saturn?" "Yes," Pluto replied, "and if my
calculations are right, we have about a hour before she
strikes. Let's get to the Palace!"

They got to the Palace just in time to see the Silver Crystal's
power being used to send the souls of the Moon to the future on Earth.
As they watched, moonbeam crystals carrying those souls floated off the
moon and drifted towards the Earth.

In future times Pluto would wonder whether things would have
gone differently if a meteor shower hadn't chanced through the area.
There was a bright flash of light and several pieces of crystal began to
float to the surface. "Damn!" Pluto said, "One of the crystals
shattered!! Quickly, find all the pieces!" They were able to find all
the pieces, but it took a while.

They met in the center of the Palace with all the crystal
fragments. As Diana walked up to Pluto, she had to step around a woman
in armor. A woman with strangely familiar hair...

They were sorting out the fragments when a sound made them look
up. A energy wave was heading towards them. "It's Saturn! We have to
go!" Pluto cried as she opened a time portal.
The two of them stepped through as the wave crashed through the
remants of the once Great Silver Millennium.

         -Time Gate, Pluto-

The fragments of the crystal sat on a table near the Time Gate.
"Now what?" Diana said. "Well," Pluto said, "its not that easy.
The fragments have to recombine on their own using the will of the soul
within the crystal. Fortunately there is a way to do this and still
preserve the timeline. And maybe, this soul will meet its "soulmate"
if you will. There will be hardships along the way, but I sense
a great reward is waiting at the end of this one's path."

Pluto picked up one of the fragments, opened the Gate, and tossed
the fragment through. "Now," Pluto said, "we have one place left to
go. And then we can go home." A time portal opened and they stepped
through to....

         -Artifical Life Laboratory #3-

A opened petri dish was on the table between them. Pluto placed
another crystal fragment in the dish. With a soundless flash, the
crystal and the soul fragment it contained was absorbed into the DNA
solution in the dish. "There," Pluto said, that's over. Diana, you
can head back to Crystal Tokyo now. I'll clean up and go back to the
20th Century. Usagi and Mamoru's wedding is in a few hours."
Pluto opened a time portal and Diana stepped through.

Sailor Pluto waited a few seconds, then closed the dish and
returned it to the shelf where it had rested. She took a glance at the
data under the dish before stepping towards the time portal. A
presence made her pause. "Soon," she said, "it will be soon now. Just
be patient."

She looked at the dish again. "Welcome to your destiny,
Rei Ayanami." She stepped through the portal, which closed behind her,
leaving no sign that they had ever been here...

         -Present Day, Outer Senshi's apartment-

Setsuna was putting on a dress in her room as voices from the rest
of the apartment reached her. The Outer Senshi were preparing for
Usagi and Mamoru's wedding-which, as said before-was in a few hours.
Setsuna finished putting on the dress and looked at herself in the
mirror. <Its going to be a interesting next few days> she thought as
she looked over at the calandar. The date was September 13, 2000.

-Author's Notes(or: What? Another one?)-

-Okay, as I said, this is based on some theories I dreamed up while
planning this, so if anyone finds fault with this, don't hesitate to
call me on it.

-Yes, I know "moonbeam crystals" are a dub invention. I needed
something to hold a soul that was easily breakable. You don't like it,
sue me. :-)

-I'm working on the Anything Goes School of Text Inflation, so
that's why the story actually outnumbers the notes this time.
:-)

-One question: which sounds better for an age of the Silver
Millenium: 1,000 or 25,000? I've seen both used, so who's
right?

-As you might have guessed, it was Rei's soul which was in that
crystal. I would like to say now, before you get the wrong idea, that
there is NO WAY in h**l that I am making Rei a Senshi. That's too
stupid a idea for even me. I do intend to put her and her soul
through the proverbal wringer. Heck, all the Children will be going
through the wringer. Will they get a happy ending? Depends, but they
have to WORK for it. :-)

-Expect a info message on the Earth Defense Force, the Crystal Knights,
and other related topics later...just so you won't get *totally* lost
while reading this. :-)
