Actually, what we have here is the story of a woman who starts out with
unquestioned power and then over time is reduced to a pathetic state,
where she is trivially manipulated by the men around her. You know, just
like her own characters.
By the time of the Ranma movies Rumiko has lost all control and just can't
say no. (This also happened with the UY movies, but at least the people
who took over also had artistic vision. Compare to the "Fire Walker"
video.)
If you want to fire off at the canon, use only the manga and not the
VIZulated comics. (The money you save by not paying VIZ to translate can
buy quite a bit of instructional materials.)
I shudder to think of the sheer bounce we'll see in the Inu-Yasha movies.
