[fanfic][Iczelion/Teknoman] Operation: Lightsphere (Phase 1, Chapter 1)

Well, I managed to get this chapter of my fic written *very* fast - around
three and a half hours.  I don't know how quickly I'll get the rest of it
written, but I'll do my best to avoid the six-week-long delays between
chapters that were prevalent in _Guardian Angel_.

(Phase 1)
An Iczelion/Teknoman crossover Fanfic by Andrew Dynon

NOTES:
 - This fanfic takes place mainly in the Teknoman continuity,
after episode #25, "Sacrifice", the main difference being that
the Space Knights did not abandon their headquarters after the
events of that episode.  With regards to the Iczer series, the
events of the "Golden Warrior Iczer-One" manga and the "Fight!
Iczer-One" OVAs have occurred, but those of the "Iczer-3" OVAs
have not.

 - The character known as "Slade" in the U.S. dub of "Teknoman"
is referred to as "Blade".  I don't like the name "Slade", and
"Blade", apart from (as ahould be fairly obvious) being his
Japanese name as a Tekkaman, is what he was called in the version
shown in Australia, which actually aired BEFORE the U.S. version.
(The Australian version was also done by Saban, I don't know why
they changed the name between the Australian and U.S. versions). 
Also, Blade's real name was changed from "Nick Carter" to "Ness
Carter" between the two versions.  I like "Nick" better, and I'm
sticking with that.

 - I currently have no plans to include Kiiro Ijima in this
fanfic.  Sorry, Kiiro fans, I HATE to leave her out, but I just
can't fit her into the storyline at the moment.  I MAY put
Kiiro-chan in the later stages of the story, but for the moment
there's just no room.

 - Of course, I want as much C&C as I can get.

*********** Chapter One ***********

     Nagisa Kaii ran, panicked like the rest of the crowd that
was fleeing from the monstrous creatures that had landed in the
city where she lived.  They were almost on her now, the
Spider-Crabs- invaders that Earth's defenses seemed helpless
against, that looked certain to eventually wipe out the whole of
humanity and she felt an extreme fear that she would be killed
very soon.
     She screamed in pain as she tripped on a loose stone - her
ankle had twisted.  To prevent herself from falling, she grabbed
onto a drain pipe.  As the few people who were behind her in the
crowd rushed past, she limped into an alley.  Maybe she could
hide there.
     Her hopes were short-lived.  The wall opposite to the one
she was leaning against crashed down, and she was suddenly
face-to-maw with the monstrous form of a spider-crab.  All Nagisa
could do was scream and close her eyes, as the gigantic creature
moved to kill her.
     Suddenly, Nagisa felt herself being grabbed and carried through the
air. Opening her eyes, she saw her rescuer, a robot that was somewhat
smaller than human-sized.  It turned - still carrying her - to
face the spider-crab.
     "Nagisa! I have to synch with you!"
     "Synch? What do you..."
     "CHARGING!!!"  
     There was a flash of light, and Nagisa screamed as her
clothing disappeared, replaced by a skintight bodysuit and
armored plates.  The next thing she knew, she was standing in the
alley (now far wider due to the fact that the buildings in its
vicinity had been knocked down) with an extremely large and angry
spider-crab charging at her.
     {Nagisa!} the robot's voice echoed inside her head {Fire
your energy beam!} Instinctively, Nagisa pointed her arms
forward, and a beam shot from them, hitting the spider-crab on
the head and stunning it.  Encouraged by this, Nagisa rushed
forward and punched the creature, and it collapsed with its head
caved in.  With the Spider-Crab killed, Nagisa collapsed against
the wall.  What had she gotten herself into?
     She suspected that she wouldn't want to know the answer.

*       *       *       *       *

"Shara..."

Blade sat on his bed, fully clothed and wide awake despite the
fact that it was 2:00 AM.  His head hung, looking at the floor. 
Star sat beside him, determined to stay awake, to support him in
any way she could.  He hadn't slept in the week since his
sister's death, which had plunged him into a state of depression
as bad as - worse than - any that she had seen him in before. 
She believed it to be a miracle that Blade had not yet attempted
to commit suicide - something that, she worried, he was
contemplating as he sat there.

"Blade, I know how you feel..." she began, attempting to ease his
depression.

"You do NOT!  You have never seen your sister killed, so how
could you know what it's like?"

"We all felt her death.  We all knew her.  Not for long, but she
was a friend to all of us."

"It's not the *same*."

Star sighed.  Blade was right, the impact of Shara's death wasn't
the same for her, for the rest of the Space Knights, as it was
for him.  Perhaps that was a good thing.  It enabled them to move
on, to fight on.  And it enabled them to try and bring Blade out
of his depression.

That was something which Star was determined to accomplish, no
matter what.

*    *    *    *    *

{This ... is ... *crazy*} thought Nagisa.  Why was she dressed in
these clothes?  How had she managed to fire an energy beam from
her arms?  And why was she, of all people, suddenly able to kill
a Spider-Crab?  She had never even had the nerve to stand up to
school bullies.

{Nagisa...} a voice spoke inside her mind. {Can you hear me?}
Nagisa let out a scream of shock.

{I'll take that as a "Yes"}

"Who are you?" asked Nagisa.

{I am an Iczel.  And, Nagisa, you are now an Iczelion.}

"What's that?"

Images flashed through Nagisa's mind - planets, star systems,
battles between Iczelions and Spider-Crabs, and a multitude of
other visions.  One of them stayed in her mind for longer than
most - a woman, with long, spiky blonde hair and pointed ears,
dressed in a red jumpsuit with a white stripe down the middle.

{Your Earth is not the only planet under attack from the
Venomoids.  There is currently a war raging across this galaxy,
between the Venomoids and an alien race called the Cthuwulf.  The
Cthuwulf created the Iczels, to be sent to synch with the native
inhabitants of those planets, and form Iczelions, who would fight
to defend their planets from the Venomoid invasion.} 

"You want me to fight against the Venomoids?"

{That's right.}

"*NO WAY!!!*" Nagisa screamed.  "Do you really expect me to take
on a horde of those things?  I'm terrified of them!"

{Not only will you have to fight the Venomoids' Spider-Crabs, but
their Teknomen as well.}

Nagisa fell into shocked silence.  She wouldn't have a chance,
she was going to be killed.  Why couldn't this robot or whatever it was have
picked somebody else to become an Iczelion and lose their life fighting
against the Spider-Crabs and the Teknomen?  She wanted out of
here, and she wanted it right now!

{Nagisa, I understand that you're scared, but you must
protect...} The Iczel was interrupted by the unmistakable screams
of Spider-crabs.  Nagisa looked up from where she was sitting.  A
group of around a dozen of them was demolishing what was left of
the block.  One of them turned its head - and laid its eyes right
on her.  

"Nagisa!  You have to fight them!"  The Iczel created a force
field to block the acid stream that the Spider-Crab spat at
Nagisa, and Nagisa wildly fired energy blasts at it.  Some hit,
and the creature screamed in pain, but they failed to hit any
vital organs and the Spider-Crab kept coming.  Nagisa closed her
eyes and screamed.

A blast of energy struck the Spider-Crab, punching straight
through its body.  Nagisa looked to see a girl with long brown
hair dressed like she was, apart from the fact that her jumpsuit
was light blue and the armor plating was silver, standing on top
of one of the few buildings still standing in the area.  

"BEAM BOOMERANG!!!" The girl launched a pair of energy boomerangs
that cut through the rest of the Spider-Crabs.  After the
boomerangs returned to her, she teleported down from the
building, appearing beside Nagisa.

"Are you all right?" she asked.

"Uh... yes.  Who are you?"

"My name's Shizuka Kawaii.  Or now, Silver Iczelion."

*    *    *    *    *

"Saber."  Darkon commanded.

"Yes, Lord Darkon?" The Teknoman knelt to the Venomoid Warlord.

"A number of Spider-Crabs have been destroyed in the course of an
attack on Tokyo.  I want you to investigate the cause of their
loss."

"Certainly, my lord."

Saber turned, and flew towards the Earth.
