DISCLAIMER: the following characters (Chris Ebon, Alec Tremayne, Kathryn
Starr) are MINE; and the idea is basically mine also, BUT I got the ideas
for this story from "Sailor Moon," (owned by Naoko Takeuchi) but no
characters of Sailor Moon are seen in the Original piece of FanFiction. I
would really appreciate it if everyone who reads this give me their
comments (good and/or bad) so I can make this ongoing piece better for its
audience. Thank you for listening, and now . . . on with the show!!!

Chapter 1/?

"Dreamscapes"

part 1

Upon a large field covered with beautiful flowers of various types, a
young man kneels, picking those flowers around him and lays them gently
into the basket he is carrying with his other arm. He raises, brushing
through his light brown hair, and takes a big breath and letting out with a
sigh, saying, "These summer days seem to get hotter every day, but . . ."
he smiles, "it is worth the effort. I just hope Caty will enjoy them, their
beauty and fragrance. I feel so lightheaded thinking about her."
Majestically, he levitates from the ground about one meter. His attire
includes a loose white shirt with a dark blue vest over it, and white
pants. The wind whistles though his ears. He closes his eyes, thinking
about nothing but tranquility. Suddenly feeling uneasy, he opens his eyes,
seeing that pure darkness has covered the sky and ground, and then, there
is no more . . .
Christopher Ebon wakes up within his bed, at his home in Greywood, North
Carolina, gasping and covered in sweat. *What was that all about anyway? *
Chris says to himself, holding his head with his hands. *At first I thought
it was actually a good dream, but then all of the sudden, that darkness
covered everything. It made me feel so . . . so . . . empty . . . * his
head cascades to his pillow as he falls back to sleep.

~The Next Morning
at the residence of Scott Tremayne

"Alec, you're going to be late to school!" Scott calls out at the bottom
of the stairway.
"I'm coming, Dad!" Alec scurries down the stairs. "Sorry, Dad, I just . .
."
"Son, what in the world are you wearing?!" Scott looks down to see baggy
blue-jeans and a way-to-big shirt on what he thought was his son.
"Well, the last time I checked, these things on me are called clothes."
	"Go change!"
"Fine, fine, fine, sheesh!" Alec walks up the stairs with a frown.

*
Now at the residence of David and Julia Starr

"We've got to go, Mother, or we'll both be late," a young woman calmly
tells her parental figure.
	"I know, honey, but I just have to get on . . . these . . . new shoes . .
. I bought the other day," Julia Starr grunts, trying to put on her shoes.
"It's okay, I can get myself over there."
"Are you sure, Katie? I don't mind driving you to school, but . . ." Julia
sees that her daughter is already gone.
*Sorry for just leaving like that, Mother, but I want to get to school on
time if possible. I had such a weird dream last night. I can't wait to tell
Chris and Alec since they love to hear stuff like this. *

*
A few minutes later at the Greywood High School . . .

Chris walks with Alec through the halls, talking about the dream he had
the night before, "It was the weirdest thing, Alec. At first everything was
fine, I was picking flowers for someone called Caty and . . ."
"Let me get this straight, you had a dream of you and Katie? Well, I
would've thought you would've liked it since you've liked her since she
moved here in the first grade."
"No, no, no, not that Katie, another one," they stop by Alec's locker.
"Anyway, after that I floated in the sky and it felt wonderful, but then .
. ."
"Hey, guys!" Katie calls out to the best friends.
"Hey, Katie," Chris walks over to her, leaving Alec, and helping her with
her books.
	"Thanks, Chris."
	"No problem," he blushes.
*I give up! The guy is hopeless! * Alec thinks as he shuts his locker and
then joining the other two.
"So, did you have a good night?" Chris asks Katie, as Alec comes behind
them and then they all start walking through the main hall.
"Yeah . . . except for a dream I had last night. It kinda gave me the
creeps."
"Really? I had a weird dream last night, too. It started out like . . ."
	Bring! Bring!
"Gosh, that's the bell! See ya later, Chris! Gotta get to French!" Katie
runs off, looking back at him, smiling.
"Com'on, Chris, we better hurry," Alec grabs Chris's arm and starts
running off, but he is not going anywhere since Chris is standing in place.
"Hello, Chris . . . Earth to Chris, calling, calling. Hey, are you
listening to me?" Alec waves his hand in front of Chris's face. "Are you
okay?"
"I'm fine, Alec. Really fine!" he jumps up and down in glee.
"Calm down, you're embarrassing me!" he looks around, noticing everyone
staring at them.
"Did you see the way she smiled at me?!"
"Never mind, I'm going by myself!" he walks off, leaving Chris to his
embarrassment. He starts walking through the Social Science wing when a
feeling of apprehensiveness sweeps across him. Pictures of people he has
never seen before comes to his mind, flashing rapidly like a movie reel.
*I must be dying if this is the 'your life flashing right before your very
eyes' except this is not my life! *
Then, pictures he does recognize come to his mind, pictures and events
with Chris and Katie, but within landscapes unlike he's ever seen. And then
suddenly, the movie reel shuts off. As like earlier, everyone is staring
at him, as Alec can only sigh, *I think Chris's lunacy is finally getting
to me. *

*
That afternoon

After school, as the sun's rays glisten throughout their town, the three
friends stroll slowly back to their homes, each talking about their 'weird'
experiences.
"Well, I was dressed in an elegant dress, and then, it was like an
earthquake that shook everything. And afterwards, there was nothing but
darkness. Then I woke up."
"Just like me except I was picking flowers for someone. What about you,
Alec?"
"It happened right after I left you this morning to go to first period.
All of a sudden, pictures ran through my mind like a slide show. It was
full of people I didn't know and then there were you two."
"Do you think it's just a coincidence?" Katie questions.
"It's gotta be, Katie. I mean, nothing ever exciting happens. Why start
now?"
Alec starts to run, saying, "Yeah, you're right. Nothing ever happens to
'ordinary' kids like us. See you two later!"
	"Bye, Alec!" Katie yells back.
"Bye, Al. . . . Ahhhhhhhhh!" Chris screams, falling to the ground,
moaning.
"Chris?! What's wrong?" Katie drops to help her friend.
"Hmm?" Alec turns back seeing his fallen friend, running back toward them
realizing what happened.
	"Can you hear me?!"
"Answer us! Chris!" Alec screams. "Oh, my gosh, he looks so different.
What's wrong with him?"
Chris slightly opens his eyes, saying, "Nik . . . reas? Cataly . . . na?
You've rescued me again . . ." Chris then goes into convulsive movements.
"Alec, run back to the school and call an ambulance!" she looks at him,
with tears running like rivers down her eyes.
	"W . . .what?"
	"Hurry!"
Alec runs as fast as possible, as Katie turns back to Chris.
"Oh, Chris, you can't go, you can't!" a tear falls from her eyelid onto
one of his. The convulsions stop as he moans, yet he is unconscious.
"Chris, you can't leave us!"

*
A medical room at
Greywood Regional Hospital

"Is he going to be okay, Doctor Millan?" Gregory Ebon talks to the doctor
over seeing the care of Chris, with his wife, Meggan, crying on his
shoulder.
"I believe so, Mr. Ebon, but I've never seen anything like this. Chris has
been in tip top shape for so long, and now this? I just don't understand
it."
Outside, peering through the door of the medical room, Katie whispers to
herself, "Neither do I."

~That night~
At Katie's house . . . the backyard

Katie sits motionless on her swing, deep in though, *I wonder if Chris is
going to be okay. What happened this afternoon . . . it was so unreal. *
Not expecting, there is a brilliant flash of light from above and behind
her, but when she turns around, the light dims and she can only see the
moon's crescent glory.
"What was that?" she turns back around, getting up from the swing and goes
to the side of her pool, dipping her hand in and out of the water as the
moonlight glistens all over the gentle waves she's creating. Something at
the bottom of the pool catches her attention, something with a golden
shine. Without thinking rationally, she jumps into the pool and grabs the
object. Coming to the surface, she gasps for air and takes the object in
her palm, and getting out of the pool.
"It's a locket," she whispered, opening the locket. A burst of light comes
from within it, blinding her and making her pass out, and she lies on the
side of the pool unconscious.

part 2

"Two of my best friends are in the hospital after suffering some sort of
seizure. Something weird's happening, and I plan on finding out what it
is," Alec Tremayne speaks with no one to hear him, resting his elbows on
the patio table in his backyard. "I just don't know what to think. I mean,
how could this have happened? Something or someone is behind this, but
who?!" he screams leaping from his seat.
"Me, of course," a voice comes from behind.
He turns around, gasping at the site of the woman he has not seen in his
lifetime except for pictures that decorate the hallways in his house.
	"Mother? It can't be!"

~

'What happened?" Chris wakes up, but not in the hospital, but a place
untouched by any physical encounter. He looks around at the blackness
blanketing the atmosphere he knows he is not accustomed to. As Chris's body
is completely flat on the rocky surface, he feels around, noticing it is
unlike any soil he had been accustomed to. He, painfully, makes himself get
up, then looking at the grayish covering below him, with craters and hills
surrounding him. "Where am I?" Standing completely up, he starts to stroll,
without knowing what to think. "Weird place." Chris stops, gazing upward.
"Oh, my . . ." The 'Blue Planet,' which Chris calls home, the planet Earth
is in his sight which astounds, yet frightens, him. "T . . . the moon?" To
his right, a cough is heard. He turns ninety-degrees to see the gentle face
the cough belonged to, on the ground, looking weak, needing someone to save
her. Christopher Ebon rushes to his friend, yelling, "Katie!" He skits on
the moon's surface, leaving a trail of moon dust.
"Chris, you're all right, you're all right!" Katie cries tears of joy,
embracing him as he helps her to her feet. "Oh, Chris, I thought you were
going to leave us!" Seeing over his shoulder, she notices the blue earth,
covered with clouds. "I must be dreaming again. Yeah, that's right, I'm
just dreaming and I will wake up soon."
"Calm down, everything will be all right, I promise," he pulls her hands
off him and holds them.
"But we couldn't survive in outer space without space suits. This has got
to be a dream."
"You sound confident that you are the one dreaming, while I too share the
feeling that I am dreaming."
"Perhaps, we are both dreaming the same dream?" Katie suggests as Chris
can only shrug.
"You are correct, my child," a whirlwind of moon dust gathers in front of
them, as its sound cuts through their ears. Finally stopping, a tall woman
in sumptuous raiment appears. Her majestic glow fills Chris and Katie with
awe, but only for a moment . . . "I am so thankful that you two have found
your way here, together like I always pictured. Finally, the Children are
reunited, but there is one other who has yet to be awakened."
"Who are you and what are you talking about?" Chris asks sternly.
Addressing Chris, she says, "You haven't changed a bit, always asking a
million questions . . . well, I'm not surprised you don't remember me,
that's the way everything was arranged."
"Listen, we have no clue on what you're talking about. Do you think you
could be a little more clear?" Katie speaks up.
"Oh, my, I see. It hasn't come yet, I am too soon arriving here."
	"What 'hasn't come yet?'"
"The Awakening. Only then will you know the truth. Now go back to your
mortal bodies, but these events that just took place will be stripped from
your mind until the time comes for the Awakening. Goodbye, my children of
the stars . . ."
Chris and Katie's surroundings blur as total darkness submerges them. They
awake in hospital beds, side by side.
*Where are we? * Chris thinks. *A hospital? Must be. *
They turn their heads toward each other, looking into each other's eyes.
Somehow, they can talk with one another, they know what the other is
thinking. It is a special bond that is between these two . . . friendship.
And as proven, friends usually can tell what the other is thinking, such is
the case with Chris and Katie, but their bond exceeds friendship. Even if
they do not know it yet, they will learn that they are destined to be
together, no matter what the cost. And suddenly, unconsciousness drowns
them once more, as the memories of what took place moments ago leave them.

~
At Alec's house

*This can't be happening, this can't be happening, * Alec Tremayne tells
himself over and over again. *This is a dream and I'm going to wake myself
up with a pinch . . . ouch! Okay, this is reality, just really messed up.
Yeah, that's it! *
"Come here, darling. Haven't you missed your mother?"
	"I . . . yes . . . but you can't be real!"
"Oh, but as you can see, I am, or how could I be standing here talking to
you? Hmm?" she reaches out her hand.
"My mother died when I was born! You're just a figment of my imagination!"
he screams, not knowing what to do. He thinks he should call his dad, but
he is afraid of what 'she' would do. It is both painful and horrifying to
see his mother, for she had died right after she had given birth to her
son, Alec.
"Your words sting your mother's heart. Come to mommy-dearest, sweetheart,"
she kneels on the ground holding out her arms to him, seeing now that tears
stream down his face.
"Mother!" he runs into her arms, still crying.
"Shh, everything's going to be okay, I promise," she embraces him.
*She's as cold as ice. This isn't my mother! * he thinks, as he hears her
laughing quietly. "Get away from me!" he pushes her away from him.
"But son!" she walks toward him with once again open arms.
"No get away from me!" his eyes sparkle and he holds out his hands,
looking over his shoulder, trying not to look into this ghost's face. To
both of their surprise, a beam of pure energy emits from his hands, hurling
his 'mother' to the side of the house, making her collapse. "What was
that?" he looks down at his hands, as the energy disperses.
	"Oh, Alec . . ." he hears her, gasping, " . . . you've made mommy mad
now," she jumps into the air as the night's darkness looms around her. Her
attire is altered to a long, dark violet dress, decorated with fine
jewelry, as she still hovers in the air. She looks over the terrified
teenage boy. Alec notices white, shiny fangs in her mouth as she opens it
to speak, "When we embraced, child, I looked within your mind. I will spare
you this time, since you still have not awakened, but mark my words, when
you have, I will come back for you and if you dare oppose me, I will not be
so generous and you will not be saved from my power. Goodbye . . . my son .
. ." In a burst of darkness, she is gone.
Alec collapses from exhaustion, thinking, *How can this be? * and then
like his two friends, Chris and Katie, he falls into unconsciousness.
"Alec, you need to come in, you'll catch col . . . -gasps- Alec!" Scott
yells, running to his son. "Alec! He's okay, just stunned, but from what?"
Fatherly, he picks his son up and brings him into the house, and shuts the
door.
"How unfortunate," a woman speaks softly, sitting on the roof of the
Tremayne residence. "Many a time tonight I tried to manipulate the little
one's mind, but somehow he was able to block it. When he was born from me,
he must have developed an immunity to the powers of the Darkness. This
information will be taken into consideration the next time we meet," she
pauses, "or does it matter? There is an altruist soul within the boy. He
will not betray the one who gave him life," she disappears as the dark
clouds of the night unleash the light of the crescent moon.

~
As midnight comes, Katie and Chris are still in the hospital, yet there are
malevolent events
waiting to take place this night, specifically at the Moore and Jackson Law
Corporation, named
after its deceased founders . . . now it is one of the largest corporations
in the U.S.

A woman, alone, stands, gazing over the building with squinted eyes. Her
dark violet dress is the only color on this street as its occupants have
gone home for the night.
"This building is perfect for my plans. -gleeful sigh- Now, so that no one
will bother me while I conduct this oration . . . I call upon the forces of
time, heed my bidding! Time . . . freeze!" and all is stopped. No bird nor
cricket can be heard, no automobile, not anything. She raises her arms
toward the sky as dark cumulus clouds gather. Thunder is heard and
lightning is seen. Her oration goes on, "I now call upon my fellow comrades
and their minions of the Darkness! Seize this place!" Mysts are given off
from her hands, wrapping the building like a lost lover. The enchantment
finished, the woman laughs hysterically, "Perfect! Absolutely perfect! By
the end of tomorrow, all the representatives as well as their clients of
this corporation will be taken control and be the host bodies for the
children of the Darkness," she walks away from the building, starting to
fade into nothingness, but saying one more thing, "Abyss will be so proud
of his newest queen," and then her frantic laughing starts and ends the
same moment.
