I was thinking of having a character (to be created) play a "Quantum
Leap" kind of thing with various animes. Is that remotely original or
so overused it's pointless to waste my time on? Or is it so stupid
you can't stop laughing?

Well, people have already mentioned the various "Quantum Leap" crossovers. I
myself have used a "Quantum Leap" sort of thing in one of my fanfics; well,
almost. The "Books" saga has the protagonist jump into a piece of anime as
himself, which has its advantages (as well as its disadvantages). The "Quantum
Leap" part came in as every time he went through the next portal, he hoped that
this would be the one to take home. Oh, and then there's the setting right
that once went wrong. Except, in this case, Ian (the protagonist) believes
that what was written, is right. The plot is therefore the most important
thing of any piece of fiction Ian jumped into. (Ian jumped into other pieces
of fiction; not just anime.) Therefore, Ian would probably be one to let
Sylvie die....

Anyway, that's enough plugs ^_^ No one has filled the "Quantum Leap" in
different types of Anime niche yet, at least, not fully. Go ahead! I'm sure
we'd love to see what you get.

One thing you might like to think of: perhaps the transition to Anime is an
accident, something that overrides the leap in their own lifetime. If you're
going to have the characters know that these leaps are into pieces of fiction,
you could have a period of confusion, since Ziggy doesn't know anything that
goes on in fiction; Ziggy's speciality being history.

And then, once they get organised and used to the idea.... things begin to
complicate.... heh heh.

Let us know what you come up with!

Ciao,

"We've found a new bug."
"LYING PIG! I'LL TEAR OUT YOUR HEART!"
"No, really. It's in the love scene."
"Ah, yes. The love scene. So tender. So romantic.
What seems to be the bug?"
"On slower machines, Elaine transforms into a troll
and gnaws off Guybrush's head."
"My life is over..."
"What's that?"
"Um... Let's just mention it in the readme."
