I haven't edited this stuff, so be forewarned!!!

Chapter 5: Shampoo makes a surprise visit.

Ranma silently walked home by himself. His first day at Furinken High
had been quite astonishing to say the least. He first saw Akane pound the
entire male population of the school into dust, and he had another run in
with Kuno. Plus, he also had the joy of tangling with his gender-bending
curse. He casually walked into his home, and he was greeted by a person who
he least expected to see.

"Ni Hao, Ranma! Do you want some ramen?" Ranma stared at Shampoo,
and he started to edge away from her.

"Now, Shampoo, who won't you leave me alone? We were only ten years
old when I beated you!" Ranma said warily as he expected an attack of
kisses from Shampoo. This dreaded attack never came, since Shampoo started
to cry, which made Ranma feel guilty.

"Ranma not want ramen?" Shampoo pulled out her bonbori. "Shampoo go
now." She turned around, and demolished a hole through the gate, and she
slowly walked out, her shoulders slumped. Ranma gritted his teeth. 'Why
can't she use the door normally?' He continued, feeling a little guilty for
making Shampoo depressed. 'Whether I hate her or not, I can't stand making
a girl cry.' Ranma now especially understood, considering his eratic
yin-yang, and he jogged out after Shampoo.

"Hey Shampoo! I'll have some." Shampoo stopped crying, and she
followed Ranma back to his home, where Ranma proceeded to eat the ramen.
Shampoo sat next to him, eagerly waiting for him to finish.

"So Ranma learn Chinese?" Ranma nodded as he chewed the delicious,
cooked-to-perfection noodles. Shampoo continued, in Chinese. "So, how has
your life been?"

Ranma looked at Shampoo for a moment as he swallowed the chewed mash
of food that was in his mouth. "Well, Shampoo, I don't want to talk about
it right now." Ranma handed her the empty bowl of ramen, and he stood up.

Shampoo forced Ranma to sit back down. "What's wrong? Is anyone
bothering you? I will kill him for you!" Shampoo gave Ranma a cheerful
smile. Ranma muttered to himself. 'Why does she have to be cheerful all
the time?' But Ranma had to admit, Shampoo's zeal was sort of commendable.
'Not that I want her to kill someone for me...'

Ranma decided that he should at least tell Shampoo of his misery. "Um
Shampoo, I have a curse. Two days ago, I was splashed with some Jusenkyo,
or something, water." Shampoo heard this and her eyes openned wide. She
couldn't help but feel sorry for Ranma, because as an Amazon, she knew very
well the effects of the cursed water. Still she had to see for herself.
She grabbed a cup of water and dumped it on Ranma's head.

Ranma-chan started shout. "What did you do that for? You've ruined
my shirt!" Ranma-chan started to complain about the problems to clean the
shirt, the delicate nature of silk, and the fact that she needed to get a
bra. Shampoo looked at Ranma, and scratched her head.

"Ranma, you ok?" Ranma-chan stopped her tirade, and allowed her
yin-yang to equilibrate a little. Shampoo was clearly worried because most
victims of Jusenkyo did not adapt the minds of their new bodies.

Ranma responded. "Yeah, I'm fine. Did I tell you that the curse
messed up my yin-yang balance as well? Well, in this body, I sometimes act
like a woman." Shampoo's eyes cranked open even wider than before.

"Hiya, poor Ranma." Shampoo sat next to Ranma and placed her arm
around his shoulder to calm him. "So Ranma why don't you ask my
great-grandmother she might know of a cure." Ranma shrugged his shoulders.

"I guess checking with her can't hurt."

Cologne sat across from Ranma. She stared at Ranma, and immediately
she noticed the dangerously unbalanced of yin that was fluctuating in his
girl's body. 'Hmmm, that's strange.' She hopped around Ranma, examining
him. She stopped in front of Ranma's face "Well, Ranma, you have the body
of a girl."

"I can see that!" Ranma started to fume. It seemed that Cologne
would be no help at all. "If you can't say anything that's useful, I might
as well leave."

Cologne ignored Ranma's shouts and continued. "Your yin-yang is
unbalanced."

"I already know that." Ranma muttered to himself. 'She's going to be
absolutely no help.'

"And as far as I know, there is no cure for this." Ranma started to
shake when he heard this. He felt the desire to pound in the face of the
evil person who made him suffer. His fists clenched, Ranma leaped off the
stool he was sitting on, and he shouted to the heavens.

"Happosai I will kill you!" However, coincidentally, Ranma's yin
levels had a surge, and Ranma-chan covered her mouth.

She started to laugh, nervously. "Excuse me, did I say kill?"

Shampoo sighed as she watched the man of her dreams become a girl
instantly. Apparently, Ranma's yin had reared its ugly head, and Ranma-chan
had dragged Shampoo off to the mall to look at clothes.

"Shampoo! Look at this dress! It's just you!" Shampoo groaned
inwardly as she was ushered into the dressing room, and Ranma-chan forced
her to try out the dress. Shampoo was getting exasperated watching Ranma
fiddle around with the dress, that she was about to find some hot water when
someone interrupted them.

"Pig tailed girl!" Ranma-chan screamed, when Kuno crashed into the
girls dressing room. Kuno crashed in through the door, and he walked in on
Shampoo, half dressed. Kuno's eyes widened, and a trickle of drool dripped
from his mouth.

"My purple-haired Venus!" Kuno then turned to Ranma-chan. "And my
pigtailed Goddess! Come to me my loves!" Ranma-chan and Shampoo both
jumped onto Tatewaki and started to beat him silly.

"Pervert! Why are you in the Girl's dressing room!" Ranma-chan
smashed her fist into Kuno's gut. Shampoo on the other hand, pulled her
bonbori out of no where, and was drumming them against Kuno's head.

"Hmph! Sick man!" Shampoo cried out with each blow. Finally after
beating Kuno into a pulp, both girls dressed him in a nice and frilly dress,
and punted him out into the mall. The sounds of screaming women and
shouting men could be heard.

"What?" Nabiki sat on the bed, her eyebrow slightly raised.

      "Oh my." Kasumi automatically responded.

"You heard me! Mr. Saotome and Father agreed to try to get Ranma to
fall in love with one of us, so he could later marry one of us. That's why
he transferred to our high school."

"And who told you this?" Nabiki was surprised that for once, Akane
got the scoop before she did. Nabiki had always been the first in the house
to get news on anything.

"Kodachi Kuno. She heard from one of Ranma's friends." Akane
continued. "And it seems that Kodachi also likes Ranma." Akane's face went
slightly down, when she thought about how Kodachi hugged Ranma.

Kasumi ventured to make a comment. "But does Ranma like Kodachi?"
Both Nabiki and Akane turned their heads to look at Kasumi. It didn't seem
like Kasumi to actually participate in a conversation about boys. Nabiki
grinned to herself. 'Yup, she's interested alright.'

Akane continued. "Ranma said that he likes Kodachi as a friend. He
says that he isn't ready for love yet."

Nabiki groaned. "Not ready for love. That's the dumbest thing I have
ever heard."

Kasumi spoke calmly. "Well, Ranma has his curse to worry about, and
he is committed to martial arts. Oh my! I forgot to clean the stove!"
Kasumi ran out of the bedroom, and dashed to the kitchen.

Nabiki silently ruminated on the similarity between Ranma and Kasumi.
Both had sacrificed love for some other purpose. 'No wonder she's
interested in him.'

The next morning, Ranma was running to school as usual. However, as
he approached school, he couldn't help but notice Kodachi Kuno, leaning
against the wall, sleeping. Ranma shook his head, as he approached her.

"Hey Kodachi! Are you tired?" Ranma looked at the Kodachi's eyes and
he got his answer. Kodachi yawned, and she openned her eyes slowly.

"Yes. I didn't get to sleep at all last night. My brother tried to
kiss me all night. I had to stay awake to beat him off." Kodachi yawned
again, and slumped against the wall, asleep again. Ranma shook his head.
'Poor girl. I should help her. Maybe I can get Mom to let her stay in the
guest room.'

Ranma gently shook Kodachi awake. "Maybe you can stay at my place.
My Mother has a spare guest room. I guess you can stay there if you want."
Kodachi's eyes openned revealing how blood-shot they were. Ranma could help
but feel sickened with the thought of Tatewaki Kuno desperately putting the
moves on his sister. 'He's so sick!'

"Thank you Ranma! I appreciate your effort!" Kodachi tried to add
something, but she was interrupted by the sounds of Akane's battle cry.

"Why won't you leave me alone!" Both Ranma and Kodachi watched Akane
pound all of the boys at Furinken High into the ground. Kodachi was
appalled. Ranma was already used to it.

"Hi Ranma!" Nabiki showed up in front of Ranma. "And who might you
be?" Nabiki pointed at Kodachi, who was again in danger of falling asleep.
Ranma nudged her.

"Oh! I'm Kodachi Kuno. Nice to meet you." Kodachi smiled, and she
fell backwards into Ranma asleep. Ranma turned red when he noticed his
hands were so close to...

"What's wrong with her?" Nabiki looked at Kodachi who was silently
asleep. Nabiki groaned mentally when she saw Ranma hands and their position.

"Ah, her brother's been picking on her. I guess Tatewaki will do
anything for any girl." Ranma fumbled a bit, and managed to bring his hands
into a less offending position without jarring Kodachi.

Akane walked up, and she was breathing slightly hard from her
exercise. "Hi Ranma! Oh, what's wrong with her?" Akane pointed at
Kodachi. Ranma was about to explain the situation when he heard a cry of
anguish.

"Saotome! How dare you touch my sister like that! How dare you stand
so close to Akane Tendo as well! Only I, Tatewaki Kuno, the star of
Furinken High, the Blue Thunder, have the privilege of doing that! You
imbecile! Prepare to die!" Kuno charged, and drew his bokken out. Ranma
immediately handed Kodachi to Nabiki and Akane, and he leaped into the trees.

"Kuno! Follow me if you can!" Ranma started to leap tree from tree
to draw Kuno away from the girls and other students.

Kuno shouted back. "I shall!" He leaped into the trees, and followed
behind Ranma closely. Finally after playing cat and mouse, Ranma landed in
the street, and waited for Kuno to catch up. As soon as Kuno landed, both
boys charged each other. Kuno wildly waving his sword around, destroying
telephone poles, mailboxes, fences, and Ranma was rapidly dodging his blows.

As soon as the Ranma and Kuno ran off, Akane shouldered Kodachi and
ran after the two. Nabiki trailed behind. Both ran onto the street where
Kuno and Ranma were fighting, and they were shocked. Kuno was essentially
destroying everything in his effort to hit the elusive Ranma.

"Ranma Saotome, stand still! And take your punishment like a man!"
Kuno cried out in frustration. Never before had he met a person he could
not hit at all. Ranma leaped upwards, and he landed on Kuno's head.
Stumbling around for a bit, Kuno gritted his teeth trying to stay up despite
Ranma's presence on his head.

Ranma leaped off, landed behind Kuno, and kicked Kuno into the fence.
Kuno shrugged off Ranma's blow, and he grabbed Ranma and flung him over the
wall. Ranma shouted for a moment, and a splash of water soon followed.
Kuno leaped over the wall to follow.

Akane gasped, and she ran around the fence where she saw Kuno
standing on the edge of a pool with his sword drawn. Kuno turned to Akane.
"Ranma shall surface for air soon, and when he does, my wrath shall destroy
him. Never again will he hound you!" Akane shook her head, 'I hope Ranma's
fine.'

Moments later, a head broke the surface, and it was not Ranma-kun.
Kuno's eyes openned wide as he watched Ranma-chan slowly crawl out of the
pool, coughing up water. "My Love!" Kuno dropped his sword, and he
embraced her.

"Get off!" Ranma-chan tried hard to get Kuno off of her, but the
combination of fatigue and breathlessness made her significantly weaker than
normal. Tears trickled from her eyes as she uselessly fought against Kuno.

"You must allow me to kiss you!" Kuno slowly brought his lips close,
when Ranma's yang levels surged.

"Hey get off!" Ranma smashed his fist into Kuno's gut, and he punted
Kuno into the tree. "And stay up there!" Ranma turned around and started
to walk. "Sometimes, I wish he'd just dry up and die!" he shouted as his
woman's body heaved. Akane could only shake her head in amazement. Ranma
seemed to have completely shifted in personality. 'I didn't know that his
yin-yang balance could change so fast!'

       "Ranma, what happened?" Ranma humphed.

"I need some hot water. I guess my yin took over." He shuddered
when he remembered feeling helplessly weak in Kuno's embrace. 'Fortunately
my yang finally balanced out my yin.' As if the Fates were smiling, Nabiki
came running up with a pot of hot water.

"I thought that this would come in handy. Always be prepared, you
know." Nabiki without hesitation dumped the pot of water on Ranma.

"Ranma?" Akane realized that she had been carrying Kodachi the
entire time, and she stared at the girl next to her pointing at Ranma in
amazement. "Ranma, what happened?" Obviously, she had seen Ranma transform.

Nabiki spoke. "It's a long story. Believe me."

Ranma nodded his head. "Yeah, I'll tell you after you move in."
Kodachi nodded. Nabiki and Akane, on the other hand, were paralysed.
Nabiki thought to herself. 'What? She's moving in with him?'

* * *

Nabiki and Akane walked home together. Both were discussing what
they had heard earlier. Akane was furious. Nabiki was just as furious, but
she didn't show it.

"Oh! How dare Ranma invite a girl to stay at his home!" Akane
shouted as she clenched fists. "He must like her!" Akane continued to
grumble as she walked. Nabiki took one look at Akane, and shared her
sentiments.

"I guess I'll be visiting the Saotome home, and do a little looking
around." Nabiki turned, and she started to run.

Akane shouted after Nabiki. "Be sure to tell me what happens.

* * *

Nodoka was surprised when Ranma came home with a girl. Her eyes
openned wide as she began to think. 'Ranma has a girlfriend? Genma won't
be pleased.' She hid her slight disappointment, and put on a facade of
cheerfulness.

"Hi Ranma! Who's with you?" Nodoka pointed to Kodachi. "And what's
with the bags?" She indicated the bags that Ranma carried on his back.

Ranma shrugged his shoulders. "It's nothing. I invited Kodachi to
move in with us because her brother's insane and he's trying to take
advantage of her." Nodoka's eyes openned wide when she heard that.

"Where's her parents? They should teach her brother some manners!"
Kodachi started to cry, surprising Ranma and Nodoka. Ranma dropped his
bags, and tried to comfort Kodachi by putting his arm around her shoulder.

Kodachi stammered out. "My mother died when I was young, and my
father is insane." Kodachi's display helped tilt the balance, and Nodoka
finally agreed that she could stay. Ranma shouldered Kodachi's bags, and he
staggered in under the weight. Nodoka led them to the guest room, and Ranma
immediately dropped off Kodachi's possessions.

"I need to go, so see you later." Ranma ran off, leaving Kodachi to
relocate her life in the Saotome home.

* * *

Nabiki quietly tiptoed her way into the Saotome home. Fortunately,
Mrs. Saotome was busy cooking in the kitchen, so she could quietly sneak her
way around the house. She slowly traveled from room to room. She finally
came to Ranma's room, and she immediately entered.

Carefully closing the door behind her, Nabiki made a quick
preliminary inspection. She found nothing much to note, other than a bed,
and a bare desk. Groaning to herself, Nabiki resumed searching from room to
room. After going through a few rooms, she finally ended in the guest room.

Not being careful, she backed into the room, and ended up crashing
into Kodachi. Kodachi spun around, and pulled out a club ready to strike.
Upon seeing Nabiki, Kodachi breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed her
stance. "I thought you were my brother!"

Nabiki took a couple steps back. Whether she did or did not resemble
Tatewaki made no difference. Nabiki just wanted to get away from the club.
"Um, of course not." Nabiki began to stammer, her mind searching for a
plausible excuse to be sneaking around the Saotome home. Kodachi paid no
attention to Nabiki, and just as quick, the club disappeared.

Kodachi resumed her unpacking. Nabiki was about to walk out, when the
door slid open, and Ranma walked in. "Hey, Kodachi, how's unpacking? Hey
Nabiki! What are you doing here?" Kodachi turned around and smiled when
she heard Ranma's voice.

"I practically done." Kodachi gestured around the room, which was
meticulously clean, except for the desk which was covered with piles and
piles of papers.

"Well, I guess you're tired." Ranma commented as he watched Kodachi
yawn again. "I should leave you alone." Ranma turned to Nabiki. "We
should leave." Ranma nudged Nabiki, and both left the room. Ranma walked
out to the small dojo, and he prepared for his usual practice with a twist.

Nabiki followed Ranma slowly, and she was surprised when Ranma
splashed himself with a pail of cold water. "Hey Ranma! What do you plan
to do?" Ranma shrugged his shoulders, as he felt his yin begin to fluctuate.

"Well, there is no cure for my curse, so I've decided to accept it.
I'm trying to get my girl form into better shape." Ranma stood in front of
a dummy, and got ready to attack it. He lashed out with his fists, and
started to pummel the dummy. Ranma noted with satisfaction that even though
his punches were not as heavy, he sure was a lot faster in his woman's body.

Finally under continued stress, the dummy smashed to bits.
Ranma-chan put a hand over her mouth. "Oh dear, I seem to have broken the
dummy! I hope Father won't get angry." Nabiki rolled her eyes. It was
obvious that training was going to be entertaining, to say the least.
'Ranma acting like a boy, and then acting as a girl.'

Fortunately, within Ranma/Ranma-chan's mind, the yang almost always
was strong enough to drive him/her. Ranma-chan forced herself to continue
training. She started to attack another dummy, and her fists began to shred
the bag of rice into tatters. "Oh my! Such waste of rice!" Searching
around for a bit, Ranma-chan started to sweep up the rice.

"Ranma! What are you doing?" Ranma-chan cheerfully smiled at her
father and hugged him.

"Hi Father! I was training, when I accidentally broke the dummy.
I'm just cleaning up!" She turned back to continue her cleaning. Genma
took one long stare at Ranma. 'He managed to destroy the dummies even when
he's a girl?'

Ranma suddenly shook his head, and realized that he had wasted six
minutes trying to clean the dojo. He disdainfully tossed the broom into the
corner, and he resumed training. Genma only shook his head, and he decided
that he needed to motivate the boy to work harder.

"Ranma! Defend yourself!" Genma charged, and for the first few
minutes, they sparred as normal as before. The only difference was that
Ranma, in his girl body, was moving a lot faster, and he managed to break
through Genma's defense numerous times. Suddenly it happened, Ranma's yin
surged again.

"Father stop! Father stop! I don't want to hit you!" Ranma-chan
now, instead of attacking Genma, immediately assumed a defensive stance and
started to dodge the broadside of attacks from Genma. Genma cursed to
himself. 'Even when his yin is screwed up, I can't hit him, errr... her, at
all!' Finally Genma stopped fighting, and he turned to Ranma.

"Ranma, as a female martial artist you must be willing to hit people!
Come on! You can hit me, it won't hurt me a bit." Ranma-chan started to
fidget a bit.

"Father, I'm not sure..." Genma became impatient.

"Ranma, do you respect me?" Ranma-chan nodded sincerely. "Well hit
me as hard as you respect me!" She gave her father an increduluous look,
and she shrugged her shoulders.

"Ok, but I respect you a lot!" Genma snickered to himself. 'She
won't be able to move my body at all!' He charged Ranma-chan, who dodged
his fists, ducked low, and smashed her fist into Genma's stomach.

Genma lurched about as he felt the wind knocked out of him. "On
second thought, it hurt a lot." Genma fell backwards unconscious.
Ranma-chan started to cry.

"Father! Father! I didn't mean to hit you!" She started to panic,
and ran out of the dojo. Seconds later, she returned with Nodoka, a
blanket, and some ice.

Ranma-chan explained the situation to Nodoka. She spoke, her words
interrupted with sniffles. "Mother! Father asked me to hit him, and I did,
but I think I killed him!" Ranma-chan bursted into tears again. Nodoka put
the ice on Genma's head and on his stomach, and she turned to comfort
Ranma-chan.

"You don't need to worry. Your father's going to be ok." Ranma-chan
smiled a bit, and the smile quickly turned into disgust.

"It happened again?! Didn't it?" Ranma looked around, and he touched
his cheeks. "Argh! I've been crying!" Nabiki looked at Ranma. 'Reality
strikes back!'

Nodoka turned to Ranma. "Well, I have a pot of hot water on the
stove. You can use it if you want." Ranma ran off, and a few minutes
later, he came back, in his normal body, with a towel, drying himself off.
He was about to say something when the door bell rang. Nodoka said out
loud. "I'll get it." and she walked off to answer the door.

Ranma shrugged his shoulders. "I wonder who that can be." Both Ranma
and Nabiki heard a girl's voice.

"Ranma! Wo de ai ren! Shampoo has ramen for Ranma!" Shampoo walked
into the dojo, holding her delivery box. Nabiki did a double take. 'What!
Another girl!' Ranma smiled a little. He really didn't feel that secure
around Shampoo, considering his experiences in China, but recently, Shampoo
seemed to be acting a lot better.

Ranma decided to speak in Chinese. 'It's the only way she can
understand me.' "Thanks, I'll be sure to eat it later. Right now, I need
to practice." Nabiki stared at Ranma, she had not one single clue what he
had said.

Shampoo smiled appreciatively, and she dropped off a bowl of ramen.
"Well I need to go now! Our restaurant has a lot of customers. Bye!"
Ranma waved to Shampoo as she left the dojo. Nabiki quickly sat next to Ranma.

Poking him on the shoulder, Nabiki spoke. "Ranma, what were you
saying?" She had been amazed with the dialogue between Ranma and that girl
with purple hair. Ranma was about to speak, when he heard a scream outside.

"Come to me, my purple haired object of my affections." Ranma
grumbled. 'Kuno.' He ran out of the dojo, and onto the street, where
Shampoo was wildly swinging her bonbori around, deflecting Kuno's bokken.
Kuno laughed maniacally as he attacked. "I shall prevail! The Blue Thunder
of Furinken High never loses!" And just as he finished his words, Shampoo
swung her bonbori into Kuno's stomach, making him fly down the street
towards Nabiki.

Ranma pulled Nabiki towards him, completely surprising Nabiki. "Hey!
If you stood there any longer, you'll be flying with Kuno."

Shampoo mounted her bike, and she almost frowned when she saw Ranma
holding Nabiki tight. She managed to give Ranma a smile that dripped with
cuteness, and she rode off. Nabiki felt sickened by the smile.

"Ranma Saotome! You seducer of woman! Not only you are familiar
with Akane Tendo, have stolen my sister, you are also friends with the
purple-haired girl! As honor dictates, before I can court them all, I must
kill you! Prepare to die!" Ranma shrugged his shoulders, pushed Nabiki out
of the way, and he dodged Kuno's sword, which sliced a hole into the fence.
'He keeps coming back for more.'

"Kuno! Put a sock in it! I'm tired hearing about you and honor!"
Ranma shouted back. 'Perhaps I should show Kuno the real meaning of
swordplay.' Nabiki saw Ranma fingering his long knife. 'Nah! It's too
much of a waste of effort.' Ranma leaped into the air, dodged Kuno's sword,
and landed on his head.

Kuno struggled under the weight, and he did managed to stay up for
awhile. Ranma jumped off, forcing Kuno to crotch down, but as Ranma landed,
Kuno recovered quickly, and sent his sword arcing at Ranma.

Fortunately Ranma heard the whoosh of the sword as it approached,
and he ducked, and caught the sword with his feet. Struggling hard, Ranma
lifted Kuno off the ground with his sword, and catapulted him into the
fence. Kuno fell down, completely knocked out.

Ranma stood up, and he turned to Nabiki. "You're still here? I
guess you have something important to say."

Nabiki shook her head. "I don't have anything to say." Nabiki was
satisfied with her investigation. 'It wasn't as bad as I thought it would
be.' "Well, I need to go!" Nabiki walked off.

* * *

Akane was relieved with the news. "Well, Nabiki, I guess it goes to
show that Ranma really is a nice guy." Nabiki nodded.

"I guess he takes after his mother. You should have seen him today."
Nabiki began to relate the events that happened. "And by the way, it seems
that Ranma has yet another admirer. It's a girl with purple hair, I think
her name's Shampoo. As far as I can tell, she's really good in martial
arts. She and Ranma both pounded Kuno."

Akane shook her head in amazement.
