"Ohayou" is spelled as thus. You might leave out the 'u',

Accually, it's really a matter of preference, and could be spelled ohayou,
ohayo, ohaiyo, ohaiyou, ohaiyoo, or ohayoo. Since ohayoo ends with a
long o, I personally think that it works best as ohayoo since that best
matches up with the hiragana. Of course once again, it's all a matter of
preference.

Actually, no. Mr. Weinberg is correct. There is no "i" sound at all.
Acceptable romanizations are "ohayo", "ohayoo", and "ohayou" (all three
are acceptable because of the long "o" sound at the end. Anything
reading "Ohaiy---{whatever}" is incorrect.

Actually, IMHO, NONE of the above spellings are correct in that in japan
ohayoo would be spelled out in either Kanji or Hiragana. The only reason
we use a romanization scheme is that (a) most of us can't read Kanji or
Hiragana and (b) our computers aren't equipped to deal with anything much
past ASCII. As far as I'm concerned, "ohayoo", "ohaiyou", "ghoti", "wankle
rotary engine", and "naughty bits" are all equally correct spellings, but
if you wanted to get as close to the Hiragana as possible, but still
staying with romanization, the best way to spell it would be:

ohayoo

Which could then be represented by the four hiragana symbols that come
close to sounding like:

'o' 'ha' 'yo' 'o'

There, 'nuff said.

One day Ryoga managed to put Ranma 6 feet under the ground.
Unfortunately for him, he made Akane, Ukyo, Shampoo, and Kodachi cry in the
process. Eventually they made him push up the daisies as well.

the end.
