OK, here we go with Try #2. Hope this works better.

As this is my first fanfic, C&C is very welcome. However, if the only thing you have to say is "This
sucked, do not write anymore," please keep it to yourself. I like to believe that any author can improve.

Disclaimer. All characters, settings, and situations are the copyright of their creators. I seek no
profit, recompense, or credit for their ideas. This work is soley for the enjoyment of readers everywhere,
and to honor the countless hours of work the creators put into their creations. Any characters I introduce I
would like to claim as my own, but knowing me, I saw them somewhere else and just forgot about it. ^_^

The only exposure I have had to Ranma 1/2 has been the Viz translations, and the various Fanfics I
have read. If I get the characters wrong, Forgive me. Also, my knowledge of the Japanese language is limited
to what I have been able to piece together from subtitled Anime, so I claim ignorance with terms and names, so
do not crucify me for them. ^_^

A Ranma 1/2 Fanfic
Lone Man And Wolf
Part one

As the sun rose over the district of Nerima, I noticed the early risers suprised to see a man walking
down the street with a wolf at his side. However, when I stopped in front of the Tendo Dojo, their suprise
turned to understanding. Odd, but trouble always seems to follow martial artists, so I can understand.

Stepping through the front gates, I made my way to the front door of the house. Knocking slowly, I
realised that a wolf might not be welcomed readily, so I gestured to my companion to slide off to the side
till later.

When I looked back up to the door, I saw that it had been opened, and there stood a lovely lady, a smile on
her face, and happiness in her eyes. "Hello, can I help you?" she asked, and I had to shake myself out of
the aura of peace she emitted. "I am here to seek training in the Anything Goes school of martial arts." I
told her. "Well then, you need to speak with Father then. "Please come in, breakfast is almost ready, and I
am sure you and your friend will be welcome." She looked to the side at that, glancing down at my wolf.

"Thank you," I said, "We have travelled a long way, and could use a good meal." Smiling back at her,
which seemed the only thing to do in her presence, my wolf and I followed her into the house. She led me to
the dining room, indicating where we should sit. Looking at the table, it was already laden with food, and I
could smell more cooking in the kitchen. "All this for one family?" I asked. "Well, we do have guests
staying here." was her responce, and with that irrepressible smile, she turned and went back into the kitchen.

Looking around the dining room, I noticed several holes and structural damage that had been patched,
but would need serious repair soon. That was when I heard the sounds of fighting coming from the backyard.
"You're getting slow, Old man!" "Oh yeah, Let's see you stop this!" "Pathetic! Here I come!" *Splash*
"Ha! Got ya!" *Growl!* *Splash* "Hey! What was that for!" Odd, I swore I heard at least three distint
voices, and one animal, but when the lady that answered the door came back with a tray of food and opened the
door, there was only a red haired girl and a large panda. "Ranma, Mr. Saotome, Breakfast is ready!" she
called out.

The two in the backyard came running into the dining room, stopping dead in their tracks when they saw
me sitting at the table. "Who are you, and what are you doing here?" demanded the redhead. My wolf began to
approach the panda, and then stopped suddenly, sniffing the panda closly. "Myu, please leave the panda
alone." I said, and my wolf came back over to me, still sniffing at the panda and then whuffing at me. "I am
Samuel, this is my companion Myu, and I am here to train. "Who are you, and what gives you the right to ask?"
My temper did always surface at the wrong times, as I had been told several times. "My name is Ranma
Saotome, and I live here!" was her response.

"Ah! Ranma! I have heard of you. "How are Cologne and Shampoo? "Still gining you grief?" I was
prepared for an angry response, but I was shocked to see her jaw drop. "How...How... How did you know about
that? "Do I know you?" I allowed a small smile to creep onto my face. "No, but the chase they are giving
you is taking on legendary proportions in their village. "No one has ever withstood Cologne for so long when
her mind was set on something. "I have trained there, and almost wound up in the same boat as you, but Myu
here kept me out of trouble in that department." I reached down at that point, and scratched Myu between the
ears, and she whuffed at me.

Footsteps on the stairs behind me stalled the conversation, as three people came down the stairs. A
middle aged man and two teenage girls came into view. The lady that answered the door started to introduce
everyone. "My name is Kasumi, this is my father Soun Tendo, these are my sisters Nabiki and Akane, and I see
that you have met Ranma and his father, Genma Saotome."

"Greetings, and thank you for welcoming me into your home." I said, bowing to Mr. Tendo. "I am here
to learn the Anything Goes style of martial arts." Mr. Tendo looked me up and down and asked "What training
have you had?" "I have trained with the Amazon Warriors for three years, and short training times at other
dojos. "I was sent here to train, and to look in on Cologne and Shampoo."

At that, Ranma looked at me and said "Really? "How about a little sparring to see what you can do?"
Nodding my head at him, we proceeded into the backyard, where he instantly dropped into a fighting stance.
Following suit, I prepared for the first attack. Ranma lept at me, a standard flying kick, which I blocked
easily. Ranma then followed through with a series of punches and kicks that I was hard pressed to stop, but I
managed to keep him from landing a blow. "All right, let's see you stop this! "Tetsu Amaguriken!" Oh man, I
didn't know he knew that attack. Throwing my arms up and bracing my legs, I entered the defensive stance for
the chestnut fist. The secret was to protect your vital spots, so the punches that did get through didn't
cripple you. However, the force of the attack drove me back, and I could see the pond rushing up......
*Splash*

struggling to the side of the pond, I shook out my fur, and growled at Ranma. This curse can be a
pain in the neck at times. Ranma backed away from me, stuttering "Wha..wha...What happened?" I growfed once,
and Myu came running out. Leaping through the air, Myu came down in the pond and quickly pulled on the
clothing that was still in the pool. She climbed out of the water, and walked over to me, pulling the spare
set of clothes and small butane burner from the belt pouch I wore. She looked around the yard, and saw the
shocked expressions on everyones face. "Husband explain in minute." Myu said, and proceeded to heat up a
thermos full of water. Draping the clothes over me, Myu dumped the hot water on me. Scrambling into the
clothing, I took the last of the water and poured it on Myu, changing her back into her true form.

"I guess I should explain." Everyone moved back into the house, and between bites of breakfast, I
related my story. "I have travelled for several years, simply to travel. "I loved the outdoors, and the
wonders nature could create. "About five years ago, while travelling through China, I came upon a large
expanse of small pools with bamboo poles rising out of them. "Not knowing, at that time, that this was the
cursed training grounds of Jusenkyo, I proceeded to bathe in one of the springs. "I dove in, and whenI
surfaced, I noticed the change. "Scared and confused, I ran off into the woods."

"Several days later, weak from hunger, I stumbled into a small wolf pack. "I spent two years living
with that pack, thinking that the change was permament. "I learned the ways o the pack, of fang and tooth,
and even took a mate." I looked down at Myu then, smiling, and she rested her head on my leg.

"Then, one day, the pack scented humans. "The rest of the pack left the area, but I stuck around,
longing for one last look at what I had lost. "When the snare caught my leg, I cursed myself the fool, and
tried to gnaw through the rope that held me. "Myu came up, and tried to assist, but the warrioress that
sprung up from the bushes startled her, and Myu jumped back into the woods."

"When the Warrioress raised her spear to kill me, I looked her in the eyes, and shook my head no.
"Needless to say, she was shocked to see a wolf shaking it's head. "Once again she raised her spear, and once
again I shook my head no, keeping my eyes locked on hers. "She spoke to me then, asking if I could understand
her. "My chinese was good enough to get the gist of her question, so I nodded yes to her. "She released my
leg then, and when I didn't bolt right away, she asked me to follow her to her village."

"Myu followed us, keeping a distance, but always ready, in case of treachery. "the Amazon took me to
the center of the village, and called out to an elder. "After just one look, the elder reached out, grabbed a
pot, and threw the hot water on me, changing me back to my human form. "I saw Myu shrink back at my change,
finally realising that I had told her truth when we were mated."

"The elder also saw Myu shrink back, and told me there was a way we could always be together. "I
thought that she meant locking me in my wolf form, and I was prepared to give up my human life for Myu. "She
led me to the training area where I had first aquired my curse, Myu still following us. "The elder told me
that this place would let us share the world together, and gestured to Myu to come closer. "Myu came forward,
and before either of us could react, the elder had swept Myu up and thrown her into a pool."

"I was shocked at the beauty that came out of the pool. "Short hair framing the slightly pointed
ears, the fangs that poked out over her lips, and eyes that burned with the same fire I had seen in my mate's.
"The elder spoke again, telling us that I needed to learn how to protect my mate in the human world, and that
my mate needed to learn how to handle her new form. "For three years Myu and I trained and learned, finally
being told to seek out Cologne and the Anything Goes School, for they could finish my training."

I reached out for the cup of tea in front of me, and took a long drink. When I looked back up, I saw
that everyone was staring at Myu and I, jaws dropping. Yep, nobody seems to understand that wolves mate for
life. I could not leave Myu, and she could mot leave me. Then Kasumi looked up and said "Akane, Ranma, you
are going to be late for school!"

The two of them tore out of the house, with Nabiki following slowly behind them. Kasumi looked
worried for a second, and then called out "Wait! You forgot your lunches!" I stood then, offering to take
their lunches to them, if someone could direct me to their school. Kasumi thanked me for my help, and I told
them that it was the least I could do to repay their hospitality. I told Mr. Tendo that I would return to
discuss training. Myu and I went out into the backyard, and I set the lunches on the ground. Placing a belt
pouch around Myu's neck, I placed mine around my neck, and lept into the pool. Shaking myself off, Myu and I
grabbed the lunches gently in our jaws, and set off at a ground eating lope, hoping to catch Ranma and Akane
before they actually made it into class. When we arrived at the school, we were relieved to see that Ranma
and Akane had not yet made it into the building.

"What treachery is this, Saotome?" bellowed a man dressed in samurai garb. "Now you must use your
magics to summon forth wolves to assist you in your fight against me?" He thrust his bokken forward and
shouted "Not even a hundred wolves could protect you from my wrath!" Ranma dodged to his left, avoiding a
thrust from the bokken, and yelled out "Dammit Kuno, you're gonna make us late!" Ranma then belted Kuno with
a fierce uppercut, sending Kuno far into the horizon.

I whuffed at Ranma, shoving his lunch into his hands, while Myu did the same with Akane. I then
gestured to the pouch around my neck, and Ranma pulled out the small burner, clothes, and thermos. Ranma
quickly heated the water, and poured it on me. I hurried into my clothes, and they told me they had to get to
class. As I watched them run up the stairs, I could not help but wonder what school was like. After all, I
had skipped out on several years of high school. Turning around, I helped Myu into her human form, and
proceeded out of the courtyard, heading toward the business district, where I had been told Shampoo and
Cologne had a restraunt.

Thus ends Part one. Mayhap not as funny as I would have liked to make it, but then I did do a lot of
background explanation. I hope to have Part two available in a day or three, but I never can tell when I am
going to have the time to write. I hope you enjoy this, and remember, the only way I can get better is C&C!
