Since Kun-chan's leaving soon, I'll claim to take in charge of the
bashing
Shampoo and defending Ryouga and Akane.

Uh oh... Zen warns you, Kun-chan is *cuter* than you are! ^_^

It's Ranma's fault that he didn't get rid of them. Who is Kaori,
anyway?
Is that the girl of the martial arts tea training? Genma sets up the
problems, but it
was Ranma's indecisiveness and lack of responsibilty that cause them to
get worse.

No it isn't - if you are basically a nice guy, are you gonna crush the
women throwing themselves at you? And Ranma *does* try to discourage them
(well, *most* of the time, anyway)

Kaori was the Fiance introduced inthe ANIME version of the Martial Arts
Takeout Race - Genma had traded Ranma to her dad for a bowl of rice, a
fish, and TWO pickles! (Yah, yah, not canon, Zen knows.)

Ranma surely didn't do anything to prevent Shampoo from trying to
marry him. If
he would have been quick and flatly reject Shampoo, there might be some
hope in getting
Shampoo out of the way. Instead, he wants to keep all of them to himself.

Zen thinks this is flawed - Shampoo is not gonna give up on Ranma until
she's dead, or until someone else beats both her and Ranma. A quick, flat
rejection would only result in Shapmpoo trying to kill Ranma, Akane or
both. (Not that she doesn't do the latter anyway)

I've heard that before. Ryouga is held responsible for not
finding the lot,
that's true. However, his lack of direction is supposed to be inhuman.
Also, it is
Ranma who knocked him into the SOD pig. That shows how inconsiderate and
rude he was.
Ranma knocked Ryouga down and didn't even stop to check. Even Ranma said
it was his
fault: "If you want to blame someone, blame the panda and the girl", and
of course we
know Ranma is the girl. So Ranma's basically trapped himself and it is
all his fault.

Nobody said Ranma was a rocket scientist, or that he thought fast in a
conversation. *sigh* Nor is that fact that Ranma can be rude the issue -
the issue is fault, and if Ryouga had just gone behind his house and taken
his beating like a man, he never would have been cursed. You can't blame
Ranma for Ryouga's equally inhuman pig-headed... err... stubborness.

Just pointing that out so you don't say Akane is not the only
non-tolerant
fiancee. It shows how non-tolerant all of Ranma's fiancees are.

Apples and oranges, mate. Apples and Oraanges.
The other fiancees do not tolerate AKANE. They DO Tolerate RANMA.
Akane, however, tolerates NEITHER.

First of all, it is Ranma's duty to protect Akane being her
fiancee. If you
notice, the people who kidnapped Akane only use her to lure Ranma.

nope. An awful lot of 'em wanna marry her.

Akane's life is
usually never at stake. Even Mousse, for example, wouldn't have waste his
precious SOD
duck on Akane.

Again, Nope - that first tankful did a number on the tiger... and it's
what would have hit Akane. It was only after he started running low that
he began to horde it.

Akane is reasonable enough to say a thank you when Ranma actually
deserves one. Herb story, for example, shows her nice side.

on some occaisions, but not regularly. Reasonable is to Akane as Navigator
is to Ryouga.

If Akane beats up Ranma,
Ranma is always responsible for it. Akane is not going to beat Ranma up
for no reason.

Nani? Again, Zen wonders how you arrive at this conclusion. Granted,
Ranma often sticks his foot in his mouth, but all too often, she never even
gives him the chance to get that far. She flys off the handle before he
can even say a word in his own defence!

She fight and punches him probably regularly, but that is never serious.
The only
times where Akane really seriously hurt Ranma would be in cases where
Ranma's clearly at
fault.

A lot of abusers use this argument - Zen fails to see how it is any more
valid here...

For example, in the onsens race, Akane asked Ranma to go to the race with
him but Ranma was a complete idiot and didn't even let her finish.
Instead, he went
with Shampoo. Of course she wants to hit Ranma.

Yes, Zen has already conceded that Ranma can be a complete idiot -
particularly where there *seems* to be a chance of getting his curse
lifted. Is there any particular reason you refer to Akane as a Him?

Look at the time where Ranma actually
defended Akane's honor during the martial arts cheerleading competition.

He *always* defends her honour. *always*

Akane
understands Ranma was helping him, and never hit or slap him in the entire
story. It
was only when Ranma makes insensitive and rude remarks that he get what he
deserves.

Again with the him... Yes, Ranma deserves the occaisional clout, but Zen
thinks he also deserves a little common courtesy - eg, Akane should at
least listen to the whoe of his excuse before she sends him into LEO.
Would that not be the behaviour of a *reasonable* woman?

(Doumo! This is fun!)

Zen-
