Umm... I'm just starting to read your fanfic...
err... Why do you keep calling Genma 'Pop'?
It's rather distracting and sort of getting
annoying by the third time you call him that....

Kun-chan...

Well, it's my understanding that Ranma calls his father "oyaji" in the
manga, which is a very disrepectful way of speaking to your father. The
Viz people translate this as "Pop" or "Pops". Since I'm trying to write
this from Ranma's point of view, I'm trying to use the names he uses for
the characters. That's why I refer to "Uncle" when talking about Soun,
and "Kuno" when talking about Tatewaki; these are what Ranma calls them.

I have a couple of options here, which maybe you can help me with. I
could cut down on the "Pop" stuff and say more stuff like "his(her)
father". Or I could go back to what I did in "Heart of the Home" and
call him "oyaji" , with a short glossary at the beginning
explaining the translation (although I caught some flak last time for my
less-than-perfect use of Japanese).

If I'm distracting the reader, I definitely need to do something
different. (Have you ever read "The Phoenix Guards"? Excellent story,
told with the most awkward prose I have ever waded through.) What would
you suggest?

Thanks for your feedback! :)
