Yeah... I'm familiar with this... It's the "Streching Space" Theory.
Sounds nice, but it still wont help you TRAVEL faster than light, cause
you're justmoving the space around you. It's not the same thing.

But, the effect is the same.  You can 'go' to other places and leave that 
'stretched space'.  It makes for interesting implications...force fields,etc.

The beauty of what Geoff landis and I hammered out (he did the math, I came
up with the concepts...it's a bit higher a math yet for me...) is that you
can have it be your force field, manuevering 'jets' and propulsion all rolled
into one.  Only problem with the system is that once you penetrate the matter-
field, you have a matter+ field (cancell out the time dialation and balance the
matter- creation (REQUIRED!) which reaccelerates the penetrating object(s).)
Against missiles, it's great, but for particle beams and lasers...forget it.
